Kendall Hynes ~ My Senior Story

There really isn’t one thing that I can point out to give reasoning as to why Trinity is so special, there are just too many. This community has taken me as a shy, timid freshman and has helped transform me into a strong and empowered woman who is not afraid of advocating for myself or others around me. Through the Trinity softball program, I have learned what it truly means to be a leader, which I know is a positive trait I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have learned so much from dozens of people through my time at Trinity, whether that’s my English teacher, librarian, or assistant AD. Trinity faculty and students are skilled at supporting one another through adversity, and never letting an individual believe they are anything less worthy of whatever task may come their way.

My favorite Trinity tradition has always been celebrating senior night in the softball program. It’s such a special day for seniors and a bittersweet celebration for all that the group has accomplished during their time in the program. I have looked forward to my senior day since the first time I stepped on the field at Triton.

My college acceptance story: I am the youngest of three children, and happen to be the only one going out of state for college. My parents work at a University close by, which is where both of my older siblings attended. I knew that I wanted to broaden my college search, and end up at a school with an excellent softball program as well as a place known for its rigorous academics. It didn’t take me long to decide that DePauw was the place for me as I know it will prepare me for my career beyond college and allow me to feel empowered in anything that I do, just like Trinity has.

My message to Future Blazers: The more you put in during your time at Trinity, the more you will get out of it. Don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone when the opportunity is given, as this community will be supportive and be in your corner no matter what.
