Young Alumnae Award
Following the path of her mother and aunts, Abby Hanrahan became a Trinity Blazer, graduating in the Class of 1999. She credits Trinity, and her art classes with Ms. Siliunas, for teaching her to give and take constructive criticism. As an adult, Abby practices her creativity in business, where she loves finding new ways to contribute to the lives of young girls and their parents.
After graduating from Trinity, Abby attended Ithaca College, where she graduated with a B.S. in Television and Radio. Her first career path led her to work in television news production, working for an NBC affiliate, and later Weigel Broadcasting in Chicago. Shortly thereafter, Abby returned to her first love of softball. In 2016, Abby created the Practice Pro Pitching School. Today, Abby and her staff instruct 85 pitchers in her main program. In 2019, more than 400 girls learned how to throw fastpitch through her lessons and clinics. Her company is steadily marking Illinois on the map as a powerhouse of pitching, by making professional instruction easily accessible.
In 2019, Abby was inducted into the Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Fame 17 years after winning the 2002 NCAA DIII Softball National Championship. As a pitcher, Abby earned a spot on the World Series all-tournament team, and helped the Bombers reach the NCAA playoffs four years in a row. She set the school record for strikeouts at 576, which still stands today.
