Trinity held its fifth annual volleyball tournament for 7th and 8th grade girls the weekend of March 20-21. The tournament draws teams from all over Cook County. Teams are placed into three pools on the first day. Following pool play, teams were ranked and then seeded for single elimination competition over the next two days. Winners of their pools were: St. Thecla 8th, St. Vincent Ferrer 7th/8th and St. Giles 8th.
St. Thecla 8th faced St. Paul of the Cross 8th in the semifinals before moving on to face Queen of All Saints in the finals who had beaten St. Celestine’s 7th in the semifinals. St. Thecla and Queen of All Saints played point to point throughout the first game with Queen of All Saints winning 23-21. In the second game Queen of All Saints pulled ahead in the middle and never lost the lead finishing 21-15 to take first place. |
