Alumna,Marche Smith, Trinity class of 2007, averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds in Concordia's first two games last week.
Nov. 25, 2009 – Concordia University Chicago’s Marche Smith ( Oak Park, Ill. – Trinity H.S.) began the new season where she left off last year, earning the Northern Athletics Conference’s first Player of the Week for 2009-10 in women’s basketball. The honor was awarded for games played Nov. 16-22.
Smith scored 22 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in lifting the Cougars to a 61-57 win over St. Catherine University on Nov. 20 at Concordia’s Geiseman Gymnasium. The 5’7” guard, a d3hoops.com All-Central Region player last season, made good on 12 of 14 free throws for the game, including six down the stretch as the Cougars held off their opponent from Minnesota for their first win of the year.
Smith also shot 6-9 from the field and scored 14 points in the Cougars’ 63-55 loss at Cornell College of Iowa on Nov. 17. Smith ended the week with averages of 18 points and 10 rebounds. |
