Freshman Year

Catholic Christianity
This class offers a comprehensive view of Catholicism and provides a common vocabulary about the essentials of Catholic teaching. It will bring Catholic and non-Catholic students to a deeper understanding of Catholicism's beliefs, rituals, and prayer life.

Hebrew Scripture
This course investigates the major texts of the Hebrew Scriptures beginning with the stories of Israel's religious history to preparing the way for Jesus.

Sophomore Year

Christian Scripture
The Christian Scriptures show how Jesus is the Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God become human. Using the gospels as primary sources, it looks at Jesus' early life, ministry, preaching, teachings, miracles, death and resurrection and the significance of this life to the Church's present day understanding of Jesus as the Christ and Son of God.

World Religions
This course will engage students in an ecumenical approach to and comparative study of the major religions of the world: Hinduism, Buddhism, Judaism, Islam and Confucianism, and their relationship to the Christian tradition.

Junior Year

Moral Issues
This course examines current moral problems such as abortion, euthanasia, capital punishment, premarital sex, censorship, violence, and gun control as well as the more personal issues of honesty, family and personal relationships and values. The course will examine the issues, the Christian response to those issues and (using primary sources) the basis for the Christian position. Various projects are required.

Peacemakers
This course examines various peace and justice issues from a personal viewpoint. It is based on the premise that being a Christian means much more than going to Church and saying prayers. A Christian, by definition, means being a Peacemaker. This course studies men and women of peace throughout history and emphasizes the role of peace-filled people.

Senior Year

Christian Womanhood & Lifestyles
The goal of this course is empowerment of students to be competent and confident in their values as they move into adulthood. Students engage in discussions revolving around issues of communication, love, dating, sexuality, finance, work, suffering, and basic lifestyle choices.

Church History
Students explore significant periods in the history of the Roman Catholic Church: Early Church to Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation, 20th century and post-Vatican II Era, in order to examine various influences which have shaped the Church today.
